I am an associate professor in the Department of Sociology at VU Amsterdam and program director of the Bachelor and Master Sociology programs. In my research I am interested in almost everything related to people’s social interactions and how they influence their behavior, attitudes and well-being. Topics I have studied most in recent years are: social and psychological consequences of Internet use; involvement in voluntary associations and volunteer work; social trust and social support; and individualization.
