As a researcher I developed interest in clinical psychiatry and psychiatric epidemiology. After my medical doctors exam I worked in clinical psychiatry and neurology. As a psychiatrist in training I started a PhD-project in collaboration with ARKIN mental health care and the Amsterdam Public Health Institute on the burden of loneliness and depression in late life (PhD 2017). Together with data from LASA I analysed data from AMSTEL, a cohort-study on mental and physical health in late life. At this time I perform research on the onset and recurrence of late life depression in lonely LASA participants with 25 year follow-up data.
