At LASA I conduct research to study the role of the oral and gut microbiota in appetite regulation and the development of undernutrition in older adults. To this end, we have started the MicMAC-study (MICrobiota, Malnutrition, and Appetite in Community-dwelling odler adults). This is a side-study within LASA, including 360 LASA participants. Between 2017 and 2018, we visited all 360 participants to collect all necessary data. Currently, we are busy analyzing all the data and writing the resultant scientific articles. I expect to finish my dissertation in 2021.
