The European Project on OSteoArthritis (EPOSA) focuses on the personal and societal burden and its
determinants of osteoarthritis. EPOSA is a collaborative study involving six European cohort studies
(Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom) on ageing.
The EPOSA study is the first population-based study including a clinical examination of osteoarthritis,
using pre-harmonized data across Europe. The EPOSA study provides a unique opportunity to study
the determinants and consequences of osteoarthritis in general populations of older persons.
A detailed description of the study design and data collection of the EPOSA study is described in
Van der Pas et al. (2013). Questions concerning the study design, data collection and the availability
of the data could be sent to EPOSA.
